Stones and finishes on this page: gold, silver.

Two different things are called gold on this page, and the difference is worth twenty years of wear. Gold filled, which is what the huggies are, is a layer of at least 10 karat gold mechanically bonded to a base metal: it is thick enough to be worked like solid gold and it does not rub through in a season. A gold finish over sterling, which is what the infinity pieces carry, is a thinner coating on a silver piece, bright, correct for the price, and eventually thin at the edges that rub.

Neither is solid gold, and no page on this site says otherwise. The reason to know which one you are buying is what happens in year three: gold filled looks the same, a plated finish softens toward the silver underneath, and both are fine as long as nobody was told they were buying something else. If a piece will be worn every day for years, the huggies are the pair to buy. If it is for a drawer and occasions, the finish will outlive the wearing.

Questions about EVERU Gold Jewellery

Gold filled, and gold over silver

Are you buying solid gold in EVERU gold jewellery?

No. The huggie hoops are 14k gold filled, which is a bonded layer of gold over a base metal, and the gold infinity pieces are a gold finish over sterling silver. Both are named that way on their cards, because the Federal Trade Commission treats gold filled, plated and solid as three different claims.

How long will your EVERU gold filled pair last?

Gold filled carries far more gold than plating does and takes years of daily wear without going through. Where it does wear is a high point that rubs constantly, and on a huggie that is the underside where it meets the lobe.

Can you wear EVERU gold and silver pieces together?

Mixing metals stopped being a rule about thirty years ago, and the practical note is duller: gold filled and sterling worn on the same wrist will polish each other where they touch. Keep them on different wrists and both wear evenly.
