Anything that hangs is felt more than a stud, and the weight is not where people expect it. A huggie sits tight against the lobe and the whole of it rides the piercing, so it is the pair you can sleep in by accident. A hook carries the weight lower and swings. That is the point of it, and it is also why a hook comes out easier than a butterfly back and why it is worth checking in a mirror on a windy platform. Gold filled is not plating: it is a bonded layer of at least 10 karat gold over a base metal, thick enough to take years of wear, and it is why the huggies cost nine dollars rather than ninety. The moonstone is the one people write to us about, because it reads white in a photograph and blue-grey in daylight, and neither is wrong.

Which do you want, an EVERU huggie or a hoop?
A huggie is a small hoop that closes tight against the lobe rather than swinging below it. It sits still, it does not catch on a scarf, and it is the one pair here you could sleep in without noticing. Ours are 14k gold filled, which is a bonded gold layer and not plating.
A drop, by contrast, is meant to move. It hangs from a hook or a wire and swings as you turn your head, which is the whole point of it and also why it comes out more easily than a stud.
Will EVERU drop earrings feel heavy on your ears after a day?
The pairs on this shelf are small stones on sterling wire, and the weight most people notice is not the stone but the leverage: anything hanging pulls at the front of the piercing rather than sitting in it. An hour tells you more than a photograph.
If a lobe has stretched before, a hook is the fastening to be careful with, and a huggie or a stud is the safer buy.
Will an EVERU ear hook stay in your ear?
A hook holds by its own bend rather than by a clip, so it stays put in ordinary wear and comes out easily if something pulls at it. That is a feature at a bus door and a nuisance in a crowd.
