A bezel of crushed crystal rather than a single cut stone: the face is packed with small angled fragments, so it catches light from several directions at once instead of throwing one flash. Twelve millimetres covers most of a lobe, which is worth knowing before ordering: at that width the disc sits flat against the ear and reads as a deliberate piece rather than as an accent. The crystal surface is the part to be careful with. It is set into the bezel rather than cut in one plane, so a jumper hooked over it pulls at the setting instead of sliding off, and the frame is what bends. Wipe it dry rather than scrubbing it.
